Lauren Conrad to Author a Style Book!
Written by Samantha on November 19th, 2009

After becoming a star on “The Hills,” and writing a bestselling fiction novel loosely based on her road-to-reality fame, Lauren Conrad will next write a book on style.

According to People, the young starlet will release “Lauren Conrad Style,” in the fall of 2010, published by HarperCollins.

“I am really excited to write a style guide,” Lauren said in a statement. “I think fashion should be fun and reflective of who you are. When you wear clothes you feel good in, it shows in everything you do. I know this guide will offer simple, practical tips to help anyone look fabulous.”

The book will reportedly teach readers how to get that signature Lauren look and also bring out their own sense of style and fashion.

But first, the reality maven will follow-up the bestselling “L.A. Candy,” with “Sweet Little Lies,” hitting the shelves on February 2, 2010.

Lauren Conrad Talks ‘L.A. Candy’ Movie: ‘I’m Taking It Step By Step’
Written by Samantha on November 11th, 2009

Lauren Conrad could probably get her pick of young actors to star in the movie adaptation of her novel, “L.A. Candy.” So, since the same producers behind “Twilight” are backing her project, could fans see some crossover action?

“I have no idea!” she told MTV News when asked which “Twilight” actor she’d like to see in the film. “I think I’m kind of taking it step by step. I’m gonna work on the script first and then go to actors. As soon as I get back … I’m going to start meeting with writers and try and decide on a writer to write the movie.”

But, she does know for sure what she wants to see happen in the movie. Conrad explained that when she met with the studio to discuss the film, she made it clear she wanted the movie to capture the craziness of being young in Hollywood without sugarcoating it for the audience.

“You know what — in our initial meeting when I was really trying to get the point across of what I wanted this movie to be about, I was saying Hollywood isn’t normal,” she explained. “When you live in Hollywood, you feel like you live in a crazy world.”

She hopes that the film can show people that “there’s all these things going on,” that a move to La La Land can throw you into some crazy situations, like it did for main character Jane Roberts. “I told them one thing I wanted to capture was that moment when you’re inside a swarm of 20 paparazzi and you can’t move and you don’t know what to do and it’s terrifying,” she said. “And I don’t think anyone’s ever illustrated that before.”

Viewers of The Hills,Head for Them
Written by Samantha on October 22nd, 2009

Judging by recent ratings of MTV’s reality show “The Hills,” Lauren Conrad is getting the last laugh.

Conrad, who had been the focus of the series since its debut in 2006, apparently took a good chunk of its audience with her when she left the show earlier this year. Her replacement as star of “The Hills,” Kristin Cavallari, who constantly bested Conrad when both of them were high-school romantic rivals on MTV’s “Laguna Beach,” isn’t the ratings draw MTV hoped she would be.Viewership for the season premiere on Sept. 29 were down 30 percent from the previous season premiere last April, to 2.36 million total viewers, according to Nielsen’s live-plus-same-day ratings.
MTV pointed out then that the show was still the highest-rated cable show in the channel’s target audience, viewers 12-34, as well as the highest-rated program on television in its timeslot in that demographic. But since then ratings have fallen some more, tumbling to 1.72 million viewers for the season’s third episode last Tuesday. That episode, which aired at 10 p.m., averaged 1.06 million adults 18-34, the demo “Hills” dominated during its first few seasons. That’s less than half the 2.3 million who tuned in to the show at its peak two years ago.

It’s also down a third from what the show averaged last June, during its most recent season with Conrad, though it remains MTV’s second-most-watched show in the key demo and still ranks in the top 15 on cable.

Lauren Conrad: Lo Won’t Be Starring in L.A. Candy Movie
Written by Samantha on October 21st, 2009

Reports that Hills star Lauren “Lo” Bosworth will be headlining the movie adaptation of Lauren Conrad‘s best-selling novel L.A. Candy couldn’t be any further from reality.

“I jokingly said, ‘Oh, Lo is going to star in it,’” Conrad, 23, told Usmagazine.com Tuesday at Lucky magazine and Madewell’s Fall 2009 Denim Tour in Hollywood. “People reported that Lo was going to star in the movie, and I was totally kidding!”

She told Us she is “excited” to be an executive producer. “It’s my new hat,” she said. “I like hats, and I get to wear lots of them!”She said she never intended for her book to hit the big screen.

“I was just hoping that the book did well,” she said. “It’s a little surreal, but it’s cool!”

Life off The Hills “is nice,” she said. “I’m a different kind of busy. I have more stress and deadlines at work than I do in my personal life.”
At work on her third book, she said she hasn’t had time to watch the current season of The Hills with Kristin Cavallari.

“I barely watched it when I was on it. I have commitment issues with shows,” she said.

Conrad – who is dating My Boys actor Kyle Howard – added that she’ll never star in another show about her personal life.”I closed that door,” she said. “We have been talking about some different stuff that’s more fashion-related, so we’ll see.”

As for Stephanie Pratt (who was busted for DUI Oct. 18)? “I just sent her well wishes,” Conrad told Us. “She is doing fine.”

Lo Bosworth: I Am Not Starring in L.A. Candy Movie!
Written by Samantha on October 18th, 2009

Reports of Lo Bosworth starring in the movie adaptation of Lauren Conrad‘s novel, L.A. Candy, have been greatly exaggerated.

Lauren was quoted recently saying that not only has Lo taken acting classes, but that Lo was also her first pick for the flick. L.A. Candy is being made for the big screen by the producers of Twilight.

“It was more of a joke than anything,” Lo explained to us the other day at Jumpstart and the Pearson Foundation’s National Read for the Record Day event in L.A.

“We were on the red carpet together and they were like, ‘Who do you want to be in the movie?’” she said. “I would love to make a cameo, but I don’t think I could handle a big role because I’m not an actress. A cameo would be really fun.”

Not so fun anymore? The Hills

“For me, it’s turned into much more of a job,” Lo griped about MTV’s pseudo-reality series. “Before, it was a lot of fun for me. Now it’s kind of like a daily grind where before it was lighthearted and easy.”  Her future with the show is up in the air.

“I haven’t totally decided,” Lo said when asked about signing up for another season. “I have some other projects that I’m working on.”
